PRESENTATIONS
Mystery Number
Mystery Number is one of my favorite activities. These riddles can help students develop, review and retain math skills and vocabulary all while having a little fun. Click on the picture below to access my presentation slide deck and the resources I created to support teachers in trying this with students.
The Power of Warm-ups
One thing I am passionate about is sharing what I have found to be successful in my own classroom. I put together a little presentation I called The Power of Warm-ups, for a summer learning session for teachers. It is quite long – but divided into sections. Watch a little at a time, testing ideas out as you go. Also be sure to follow the amazing mathematicians that I mention. Their posts on Twitter have transformed how I operate. Dividing into Squares
Everyone knows that the math activity you choose to do on the first day is really important. Here is a little video about an activity I do every year in my class. Definitely a great way to promote persistence, pattern identification, generalizing and applying a strategy, as well as communication in problem solving.
